Would you like to learn more about preventing wrinkles and looking younger? Here’s what you should know:

What causes wrinkles to develop?

Wrinkles are usually caused by age, repeated facial expressions, sun damage, or smoking. While you can’t do much about wrinkles caused by facial expressions or aging, you can avoid sun damage and quit smoking in order to look your best for as long as possible.

What can you do to prevent wrinkles?

There are a few steps you can take to prevent wrinkles, or at least delay their development.

  1. Start early: Start taking great care of your skin before you notice any fine lines or wrinkles on your face. Use moisturizer on your face and neck each morning, and start using retinol cream at night in your mid-twenties.
  2. Shun the sun: Sun damage is one of the worst things for your skin, and it can put your health at serious risk. Never use tanning beds, apply sunscreen often when you’re outdoors, and wear clothing that covers your skin. If you really want a sun-kissed glow, look into getting a spray tan.
  3. Avoid stress: Stress takes a heavy toll on your appearance and your health, and eventually furrowing your brow will lead to extra wrinkles. Keep your stress levels down by regularly exercising, getting plenty of sleep, and spending time doing things that you enjoy.

How can you reduce the appearance of wrinkles?

While you can prevent wrinkles from developing for a time, eventually you will have some. Fortunately there are a few things you can do to minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

For starters, change your makeup routine. Wearing heavy makeup can actually accentuate wrinkles since the powder settles into the lines on your face. Keep your makeup light and natural for the most flattering results.

There are also cosmetic procedures that can significantly reduce, or temporarily eliminate the appearance of wrinkles. Botox injections are just one, very popular method for smoothing the skin on the face and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
